If because of domestic abuse, you&#8217;re entitled to Legal Aid to protect you, use it. If you and your husband have significant and complex financial arrangements, you&#8217;ll likely need the support of a Financial Adviser, Solicitor and possibly Pension Actuary and Forensic Accountant too. Who else might you need in your support team? Hope that somehow by joining you&#8217;ll get everything you need? Sorry &#8211; it doesn&#8217;t work that way. If you show up, read the materials, watch all the videos and ask questions, I guarantee it will work. It came about after a conversation with my business coach about this very thing. Here&#8217;s what happened:<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">A couple of people have said that they&#8217;d like to join <i>Get Divorce Ready<\/i> but they can&#8217;t afford it. I always feel guilty when I hear that. My coach asked me whether that was true. I said how would I know?\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">She said sometimes people say they can&#8217;t afford it when actually, the underlying reason is, that they&#8217;re not sure. They <i>could<\/i> invest but something them is stopping them. She asked me if I was sharing the value of the programme. I said I thought so.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">She was brutal.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">She said have you told them that working with you will save them 80% or more of the cost of legal fees?<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Have you told them that the benefits of the programme &#8211; dealing with their emotions and making a clear financial plan will be with them long after their divorce?<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Uum probably not? I said.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">She reminded me that if cost is the real barrier, there are lots of free and lower cost ways to get my help &#8211; my blog, my book <span style=\"color: #c5b2b1;\"><a style=\"color: #c5b2b1;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.howtobealadywholeaves.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>How to be a Lady Who Leaves<\/em><\/strong><\/a><\/span> and my<strong><span style=\"color: #c5b2b1;\"> <a style=\"color: #c5b2b1;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.emmaheptonstall.com\/divorce-coaching\/understanding-divorce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cards Understanding Divorce 30 Daily Lessons<\/a><\/span><\/strong>. She reminded me I can only help lots of ladies if\u00a0 I get paid for my services.<\/span><\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"if_i_pay_for_get_divorce_ready_itll_take_money_away_from_my_solicitor\"><\/span><span style=\"color: #c984a4;\">If I pay for Get Divorce Ready it&#8217;ll take money away from my solicitor<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">This is a straightforward one to answer &#8211; if you do Get Divorce Ready, you&#8217;ll use your solicitor a whole lot less.\u00a0 Will you still need one? Yes. You need to get advice on your agreements and your Consent Order drafted by a Solicitor.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"i_dont_have_time_to_do_get_divorce_ready\"><\/span><span style=\"color: #c984a4;\">I don&#8217;t have time to do Get Divorce Ready<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Don&#8217;t have time or don&#8217;t want to make time? I&#8217;m cool with either &#8211; but be honest. Time commitment involved 2 hours on a Wednesday evening for 8 weeks 1-2 additional hours each week if you follow all the reading and the workbook.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"im_not_ready_to_do_get_divorce_because_divorce_terrifies_me\"><\/span><span style=\"color: #c984a4;\">I&#8217;m not ready to do Get Divorce because divorce terrifies me<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">I<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"> hear you. If divorce terrifies you because of abuse, Get Divorce Ready probably isn&#8217;t for you &#8211; if you&#8217;re not sure, ask me! If you&#8217;re just scared, that&#8217;s exactly why <i>Get Divorce Ready<\/i> is for you. Let&#8217;s get you unscared and ready to move forward with your divorce AND the rest of your life.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"divorce_is_complex_%e2%80%93_ill_wait_for_my_husband_to_divorce_me\"><\/span><span style=\"color: #c984a4;\">Divorce is complex &#8211; I&#8217;ll wait for my husband to divorce me<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">If you&#8217;re waiting for your husband to divorce you, that&#8217;s fine. But how long have you been waiting, and are you happy for him to be in control of the pace of the process? Remember, even if you&#8217;re the Respondent, you still have paperwork to complete and it&#8217;ll still cost you if you end up needing to apply for court orders yourself.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">So there you have it ladies.
